The Challenge
Degenerative disc disease is common in the neck (cervical spine) and lower back (lumbar spine). These particular areas of the spine undergo the most motion and stress and are most susceptible to disc degeneration. Pain will radiate in the lower back, down to the buttock and even upper thighs. The term “degenerative” refers to the “natural wearing down” of the spinal disc. Over time, our bodies change, and some individuals are subject to the pain that accompanies this natural process.
